As promised, the cell phone numbers for subscribers follow. First, our thanks again for your interest and your community support.

The second point is that we would appreciate it if you would keep the number to yourself for now – people are signing up on an on-going basis but we are still short of the minimum number of subscribers that will allow the plan to be implemented to full capacity.

You will get the numbers in a minute – but just one more point (keep reading!) – at the end of this email is a list of contributors by street: however, there are subscribers who completed the first debit order form which didn’t ask for street addresses, so the list is not complete. (It may also not include all those who joined up after 21 March.) These omissions will be remedied in a special edition of the Crier which will be distributed shortly after Easter (a bit of admin to do in the meantime…). For now, use the list as a reasonably reliable indicator of neighbours who may not have signed up – and have no compunction in asking them if they have signed up!

The cell phones are in the current two additional patrol cars dedicated to our area (we will have more when the number of subscribers increases).

What this means is that if you see anything suspicious or something that alarms you, phone the relevant cell number. Since the vehicles are dedicated to our area only, you should have a response within minutes. As a subscriber, you will always be given preference. Bearing in mind that while we do not yet have the optimum number of vehicles operating (hence the importance of having more residents signing up), nonetheless please inform Chairman John Turpin of any response time that you feel is unacceptable. Behind the secenes…
The CRA is working hard to implement agreed-upon minimum standards of service and monthly meetings are to be held with senior ADT officials to ensure that we get what we’re paying for.

Among issues that we’re monitoring right now are the identification of the patrol vehicles (they will have the CRA logo on them) and the identification plaques that ADT have promised will be attached to properties that are subscribers. Bear with us – a heck of a lot of work goes into this behind the scenes but our aim is to make this the best of the 89 local schemes already administered by ADT. 

The last point is that for those who completed the debit order form, the first run was completed on Monday 2 April for the March debit. The delay was mostly due to the stringent anti-fraud procedures that FNB insists on and, frankly, we were happy to comply, even if it meant that the debit order run didn’t take place on 26 March, as originally planned.
