Guests will include Senior Superintendent Moodley from Parkview Police station, Ward Councillor Ian Ollis and Rosebank Gazette reporter Kate Henry. Our guest speaker is Bobby Godsell, a resident in our area. Representatives from ADT and SAS have also been invited, as has Craig Pretorius, our town planner. Former Ward Councillor Judy Stockill will be present to give a vote of thanks to outgoing Chairman John Turpin.

There will be time set aside for questions but we also don’t want the meeting to be too protracted, so a question slip will be handed out for you to complete and hand in for a response, should there not be time to take all questions. Also to note is that refreshments will be served and there will be car guards.

CRIME and the CRAIGPARK COMMUNITY SECURITY SCHEME
There have been a number of recent media reports relating to community security schemes in areas such as Athol and Glenhazel. In every instance, the comment is made that crime in the area has dropped significantly. 

We need at least another 2 patrol vehicles for our area to be covered effectively – please don’t delay if you haven’t joined up yet! Burglaries and attempted burglaries continue – a recent incident report from ADT is attached, noting that this is only a partial picture. However, don’t go into a decline, rather just be aware of what is happening around you.

Attached is the CRA debit form. For ADT clients the addendum form can be downloaded from our website (www.cra.org.za/fight_crime.htm) or email Wendy (wendym@creativecoms.co.za) to have one sent to you. Please fax your CRA form to Wendy (011 325-7160) or email a scanned version or pop it into her (secure) postbox at 21 Beaufort Avenue CP. ADT forms can be faxed to 011 444-4564.

Even if you wish to use other forms of payment (eg pay by cheque for the whole year at once – discounted to R2002) please complete the CRA form indicating your preferred payment method. Please note though, that we’re reluctant to accept payment by stop order – this is proving to be an administrative headache.

CRA PRECINCT PLAN 
The City’s town planners have now approved our plan in principle (some 18 months later!). The last step is for the plan to go before the Mayoral Committee for formal approval within – we’re told – the next month or two. With the plan in place this should, we hope, put pay to the sometimes erratic Council decisions in granting permission for higher density developments where we don’t want them. Thanks to Lee Whitfield who has guided the process over this lengthy period.
