A
safer suburb – subscribe to the PSS scheme with CSS
There
still seems to be some confusion about this latest CRA initiative.
To clarify:
·
The Public Spaces Security (PSS) scheme is separate to any armed
response service that you may have.
·
The reason for having a PSS scheme is to provide you with
greater protection and safety. Your armed response company isn’t
there when you’re accosted in your driveway and it doesn’t look
out for suspicious people and cars. By having patrol vehicles
dedicated 24/7 to scanning our streets for suspicious activity,
backed up by cameras, criminals are going to find it harder to
attack and rob you.
·
The more of our community who sign up, the more
protection can be offered.
·
Over 360 people have signed up to date. If each one of
you can get just one friend or neighbour to sign up too, we will be
very close to having a full solution. Get two more people on
board – then our suburbs will then be really well protected.
·
An information meeting is to be held on Saturday 20
September at 09:00 at Craighall Primary. Anyone who signs up there
will have two entries in the next draw to win a year’s
subscription to the PSS scheme. R385 per household, R85 per
sectional title unit.
·
The PSS scheme starts on 1 October. We are on track to
have 3 patrol vehicles. More subscribers will mean that the first
cameras will be installed – it’s up to you!
·
Some people have indicated that they would be prepared to
pay more to have cameras installed sooner. You could do this by
paying for a senior citizen on a fixed income. Let Richard
know if you’d like to consider this. In addition, if you
have your own camera(s) installed, for a fee these can be linked to
CSS’s monitoring system – contact CSS for information – 0861
911 119.
Recent
crime incidents include robberies at two complexes (
Rothesay Ave
) and an armed robbery in
Portland Ave.
