VOTE!!!

Dear residents
As we hope you know, not only from our communications but also from the posters and the leaflets in your post boxes, there is a by-election for the position of Ward Councillor, with voting to take place on
Wednesday 8 July at Craighall Primary School (07:00 -21:00).
Most of us are also aware that since the general elections in April, the overriding message is “service delivery”. The CRA, with Ward Councillor support, has worked tirelessly to get things done but much in our area has remained undone, in spite of our best efforts.
We, like many others, are sick and tired of ignored messages, non-delivery and disinterest. We understand the needs of other communities but as an area where rate payers tend to be conscientious and pay their rates, we have made use of the by-election activity to express our concerns, dissatisfaction and frustrations with both the DA and the ANC candidates.
As an objective exercise to test the statements/promises made by each candidate and to ask for concrete solutions, we requested both candidates to respond to a real situation - we said that we were looking for a half way decent analysis and consideration of what is really demanded at local government level. The situation put forward is the Braamfontein Spruit area, one which poses and raises a whole range of issues. We thank both the candidates for giving us a response within 6 days. To read the responses please go to our home page – www.cra.org.za – and click on “STOP PRESS July 2009 - response from Ward Councillor candidates for by-election 8 July to a CRA request for service delivery action in our area.”
We look forward to seeing you at Craighall Primary on Wednesday – please spend a minute or two to meet your CRA exec, check if you’ve paid your CRA subs and voice any concerns that you may have.
Our regular monthly newsletter will be sent out after the result of the by-election is known and we’ll have some additional features, eg a list of all infrastructural problems known to us and reported but not yet fixed.
We have also been advised by resident John Tompson that a number of complimentary tickets (worth R25) are available for The Star Energy Efficiency Exhibition at the Gallagher Convention Centre on 10 July - if you would like a ticket, please either email Wendy McAllister or Exhibitions Africa and we'll email a ticket back to you.
Best wishes
Your CRA exec
