- Try to minimise the amount of money and credit cards you carry on you. person
- Try not to wear an excessive amount of jewellery.
- Divide your money between your pockets and bags.
- Remember to keep your windows rolled up, doors locked and do not put your handbag on the passenger seat whilst driving.
- When walking to your vehicle or house, keep your keys in your hand until you are safely inside.
- If possible, park your vehicle in a well-lit area as this helps to discourage a possible attack or theft.
- If you suspect that you are being followed, avoid quiet or remote areas and head for the nearest Police Station or an open shop. If you are close to home in Craighall or Craighall Park and a subscriber to the CRA’s Public Spaces Security scheme [PSS], call CSS - 0861 911 119.
- If you arrive at home and find the door open, do not go inside. Call the Police or a neighbour or the Community Security Scheme patrol vehicle, if a subscriber.
- Lock the house doors even if you are at home and report suspicious vehicles, people or activities to 10111 or CSS or your armed response comapny.
- Be vigilant and take note of details concerning people.
- Try and remember person's height, build, hairstyle, scars, eye colour and accent - this info will help the Police when investigating the incident.
- Mobilise or participate in the Community Policing Forums within your neighbourhood.
