Dear Residents
  • You will by now have heard or seen in the press the problems that have recently developed at the Parkview Police Station.

Essentially, there are two issues as far as we, the residents, are concerned. Firstly, the comings and goings of Superintendent Loubser, a person who has served our community well. To go into details of Supt. Loubser's problems at the police station would be, in my opinion, non productive but suffice it to say that any criticism that was levelled against him was totally unfounded.  In fact, he has indicated recently that when the station upgrades are finalised, he will apply for his job again, which means he is not ruling out the possibility of returning to Parkview Police Station in the future.

The other situation that has developed is that Fran Haslam and her total executive committee for the CPF have resigned because of their unhappiness with the management and staff at Parkview Police Station. Until this situation is resolved, communication between the community/residents and the police station will be jeopardised. This is unfortunate as Fran has been an outstanding Chairperson of the CPF and has supported the Craigpark Residents Association in our fight against crime.

In terms of how this all affects the CRA, I have recently met with the Director of Police, Jenny Naidoo, and the Acting Superintendent of Parkview Police Station, Supt Dupiesani.  They have assured me that the service to our  suburbs will continue at the expected standard and this to include the proper operations of our donated vehicle - the "Craigpark Striker".

Anyone who requires further details should contact our Chairman, John Turpin, at 011 325 4547 or email jrturpin@mweb.co.za.

  • We are pleased to be able to advise you that the applicant who put in an offer to purchase the "Koppie Property" at the top of Beaufort Ave has withdrawn his application to the Johannesburg Property Company. All residents who assisted in the petitioning against this application are to be congratulated.

The project was spearheaded by Wendy McAllister and our Town Planning Portfolio. Although there still could be things to be resolved, this decision compliments the way our residents feel about land in our two suburbs.
