The public meeting you cannot afford to miss
By now you should have received a circular that the CRA distributed by hand to all residents in Craighall and Craighall Park notifying them of the public meeting to consider revision of land development in our two suburbs. The CRA has appointed Town Planner Craig Pretorius to revise the 1999 LDO for Craighall and Craighall Park. He will present his proposals and discuss all the town planning issues relating to the revised LDO with owners, residents and other interested parties at this meeting. This is your chance to comment before
the proposals are submitted. Your association has set aside funds for this major project.
Meeting details are:
Ø 14th September 2005
Ø 19:00
Ø Craighall Primary School (entrance in Grosvenor Avenue, Craighall Park. Car guards and security will be arranged.)
Help us to present your views in this important project.

Security
You’ll be pleased to hear that your association is forging closer links with the Parkview Police Station and its management and staff. Criminal incidents over the past ten days have reduced but this is not to say that this presents any trend for the future. Out of 21 stations in the area Parkview Police Station has reached the highly acceptable level of being number 3 in the community. The police have set up and implemented major “special projects” aimed at providing more visible policing which, hopefully, will help reduce crime in our two suburbs.
We are still threatened by driveway robberies and vehicle thefts and I’d once again
emphasise that all of you must be extremely alert when leaving and returning to your homes,
particularly when returning after shopping. The time of day where the worst and most frequent crimes are taking place has been studied by Parkview Police and the danger times are
between 12
noon and 20:00. This doesn’t mean that there are no crimes outside of these
times, merely
that we are alerting you to the times that these incidents most frequently take
place.
The police are keeping an extra eye out for the areas of Jan Smuts and Buckingham and the Spruit. We are also looking at cooperating with the Metro Police in terms of speeding on our streets and ticketing drivers (and taxis) who exceed the speed limits.
Special Notice re 10111 emergency no
The Parkview Police has asked our two suburbs to use 10111 if they are suspicious of people on their streets and / or obviously if there is a property break-in. The reason for this is that the 10111 facility is better structured to advise the Parkview Police of urgent phone calls from residents. This still means that the caller will be answered by the Parkview Police vehicle but the quickest way through with the current communication system is to phone 10111. Please adhere to this until we advise you otherwise. The other thing to pay attention to is that our Sector Manager is Constable Mukhawane and his cell number is 082 829-7609: contact him if you need personalised assistance.
Last word – be proactive! What can you do for your community? Without the CRA, our area would have no effective recognised representation, a vital ingredient in today’s local
government planning processes.
The CRA still needs a secretary and volunteers for the portfolios of traffic and security.
Thank you!
