            1.   Security

In our last e-letter to you we pointed out that there had been changes in management at the Parkview Police Station. Since that time, we have received various reports from residents complaining about the deterioration in service from the station. Parkview has set a high standard for itself and this perceived interruption of the smooth running of that station has been conveyed to the management of the station and also to their top management in the South African Police. We have been assured that matters which affect Craighall and Craighall Park are being attended to, with particular emphasis on the efficient running of our donated police vehicle (PV18) ensuring that it provides the kind of coverage we were promised when we donated the vehicle. If any residents have valid criticisms of the service they are experiencing from Parkview Police Station please advise John Turpin by email (jrturpin@mweb.co.za or fax 011 325 4160).

It should be noted by residents that the AGM for the Parkview Community Police Forum will be held on the 13th of October at 19:30 in St Columbus Church, 45 Lurgan Road, Parkview. As you are aware, the CPF is the go- between for the South African Police at Parkview and the residents throughout the precinct. We would urge any residents who have any questions about police activity in our area to attend this meeting.

2.   Town Planning

The petition to the koppie is still being considered by the mayor's petition committee and the next meeting will be held on October 8th. The matter cannot go forward until this committee has reached a conclusive opinion. We will keep you updated when there are further developments.

3.   Environment

Residents will be pleased to know that due in part to the environmental portfolio's efforts, the Sextopia sign on Jan Smuts Avenue has been repositioned to the side of the building that houses the business. Action was finally taken by the responsible department within the municipality.

4.   General
