Security Update

21 December 2020

Over the years, security has become a major concern for most residents in the CRA area. This is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future without action.

As the CRA represents you, the residents within our community, security is also of paramount importance to the CRA. To this end, our dedicated sub-committee will address the security needs of our area.

Ashleigh Parry heads up this security portfolio. She has many years of experience in the corporate security industry and is professionally qualified to lead the CRA security committee.

Going into 2021, we are already looking ahead at what the CRA can do to improve the overall security and service offerings for the community.

Below is a brief outline of some of the security goals and actions we plan to achieve.

CRA/CAP Public Space Security Scheme

CAP remains our sole provider for public space security (PSS), our preferred armed response provider and an important part of security in our community.

The core of the CRACAP public space security scheme in our area is

  • three tactical units
  • highly trained armed tactical officers
  • constant patrolling
  • actively disrupting suspicious activity

Here are more details from CAP about the additional support they provide,

As a residents’ association, the CRA is run by and for the residents. It operates most efficiently and effectively with the support of the community. Being a community initiative the CRA/CAP PSS scheme is and has always been voluntary and it too requires the support of the community for it to work optimally and make our area as secure as possible.

We will be working hard, in conjunction with CAP, to improve the security of our community and the more involved our community becomes the more we can achieve.

Please note that the CRA/CAP PSS initiative is voluntary and does not equate to CRA membership. CRA subs are annual whereas PSS is a monthly debit order.

Whether you reside, own property or run a business in our area, YOU are an important part of our community.

Working together we can build a safe, successful and supportive community.

Ultimately you, the members of our community, are the CRA.
